Angela Yoxall-Hurlburt died Monday after suffering chest pain. Many are grieving her death. "635, you are loved and will be missed."

NEW HAVEN, CT — An honor guard made up of New Haven first responders will pay tribute to one of their own after 911 dispatcher Angela Yoxall-Hurlburt died Monday night from a reported heart attack. She was 36.

Her family's grief is shared by the New Haven fire and police departments, public safety dispatchers and nearby first responders.

“She was an intensely passionate team member who often went above and beyond to assist her coworkers but was also the first to step up and help anyone in the New Haven Fire and New Haven Police department families in their times of need,” Erika Bogan wrote on the GoFundMe campaign to help pay funeral costs and support Yoxall-Hurlburt’s family as they mourn.

Yoxall-Hurlburt, a married mother of two children, suffered chest pains Monday night and was later pronounced dead at the hospital, the New Haven Independent reported. A New Haven native, she was a second-generation 911 dispatcher.

“She helped champion several charitable efforts, and was eager to return to work following an extended recovery time after a surgical procedure," the GoFundMe page reads. "She was always that familiar, calming, competent presence on the other end of the radio when she was at the helm, and always smiling and happy whenever she stopped into any of the firehouses to chat, she always took extreme pride in her profession and was a major advocate and supporter for all public safety services."

In a conversation with Patch, firefighters said, "We are fortunate as firefighters that we have emergency crisis counselors for these situations in addition to being able to process it in a group setting within the firehouse, but that emotional toll is amplified when it is someone so close to us."

They said the support from the community is both "uplifting and very much appreciated."

"Especially for someone like Angela who genuinely was a very sweet, energetic, and caring soul who did so much to help others outside her professional duties," New Haven firefighters said. "She was always the first to volunteer to assist others in their time of need, so we and many others in the community have been eager to do so for her and her family."

The New Haven Fireman’s Benevolent Association wrote on its Facebook page that she was the "familiar voice on the other side of the radio and a bright, happy face who would often stop in to the fire houses for a chat."

"Our thoughts, prayers, and deepest condolences are with her family, colleagues, friends, and those who worked valiantly to assist her. 635, you are loved and will be missed,” the fireman's association wrote.
