Sumrell, Jones, Quezada: Recent Death Notices From New Haven (patch.com) — New Haven families are mourning three community members this week, with recent death notices honoring longtime nurse Annie Lucille Jones, Stop & Shop employee Toby Jonathan Sumrell, and electrician Jose Nunez Quezada. Each had strong ties to New Haven, from local schooling and work to moving here to be near family, and leaves behind loved ones and colleagues who knew them well.

New Haven Man's Body Recovered From Connecticut River in Windsor (einpresswire.com) — A 32-year-old New Haven resident, Jose Nunez Quezada, was recovered from the Connecticut River in Windsor after a Jet Ski-type accident over Labor Day weekend. State environmental police and multiple agencies searched Sunday night and Monday before finding his body, and the death remains under investigation by the medical examiner.

3. Connecticut Woman Says Landlady Dared Her to Report Her to the City, So She Did: 'Sounds Good to Me!' (thenerdstash.com) — A New Haven tenant says her landlady dismissed weeks of complaints about peeling paint and even dared her to call the city, so she did. A subsequent inspection allegedly uncovered multiple code issues, from a bad fire alarm to tangled electrical wiring, forcing repairs that could lower her bills and encouraging other New Haven renters to seek help when conditions aren't safe.

4. Sex offender pleads guilty to escaping CT halfway house (ctpost.com) — A convicted sex offender who was arrested in New Haven after fleeing a Bloomfield halfway house has now pleaded guilty in New Haven federal court to escape from custody. The 43-year-old faces up to five years in prison when he's sentenced in December, following earlier convictions in Alabama and Hartford federal courts.
