UPDATE: Woodbridge Man, 66, Found Dead In Water At Lighthouse Point
New Haven police spokesperson Scott Shumway said Richard Piccione was found unresponsive by police Underwater Search and Rescue Team Monday.
NEW HAVEN, CT — Police spokesperson Scott Shumway said the body of 66-year-old Richard Piccione of Woodbridge was found in the water at Lighthouse Point Park Monday afternoon. Shumway said that at around 12:40 p.m., New Haven Police received a call about a body found in the water on the shoreline of Lighthouse Point.
The New Haven Police Underwater Search and Rescue Team responded and recovered Piccione , he said. The initial investigation did not reveal any trauma or signs of foul play.
Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit are leading the investigation.

New Haven police are investigating after the body of a middle-aged man was found on the shore at Lighthouse Point Park, New Haven director of Emergency Management Rick Fontana told Patch.

Fontana said the body was found at the water's edge to the beach by the boat ramp at the park. Fontana said the man was "fully clothed."
"It looks like he may have had a fall by the water's edge or a medical emergency," Fontana said.
The New Haven police and fire departments were called to the scene at 12:45 p.m. Police are leading the investigation, he said.
The man’s body was recovered by police, and the state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner came to transport the body to Farmington.
"He was not in the water for very long," Fontana said, adding that his identity is unknown but is "likely a local person."
Fontana said he "looked like a very active man."
Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit are leading the investigation.
