The Benhaven Walk for Autism returns on October 11! The morning begins at 8:15 a.m. with registration at New Haven’s scenic Lighthouse Point Park, followed by a 2-mile walk. Afterward, join us for a post-walk celebration featuring scenic harbor views, music, Naples pizza, popcorn, a raffle, bubbles, kids’ activities, and more! Nearly 400 walkers are expected to raise more than $100,000 for Benhaven. A virtual walk option is also available for those unable to attend in person. Learn more at www.jbsports.com.
All proceeds benefit Benhaven, a local non-profit serving individuals with autism, intellectual disabilities, and related conditions. A portion of the funds will support the renovation of the Green Barn to create a home for the Children’s Behavioral Health Services Clinic. Benhaven’s mission is to empower people with autism and developmental disabilities to participate in community life, make meaningful connections, gain employment, and experience personal satisfaction and happiness. The Benhaven Walk will kick off Benhaven entering its 60th year of providing individuals and families with supports inspiring purpose and possibility.
News 8’s Joe Furey has been at the walk nearly every year and this year he will serve as the Honorary Walk Chair and will host the event.
Walkers are encouraged to fundraise for the walk, as this is the most impactful way to support the organization. A raffle will be held during the event, with proceeds going directly to Benhaven.
