$10,000 Donation Awarded to Local Non-Profit Supporting Neighbors in Need

Abbate Insurance Associates, Inc has officially awarded a $10,000 donation to Linens of Love a nonprofit that provides linens, blankets, towels, comforters, and toiletries to individuals and families in need across the Greater New Haven community and beyond. The funds will provide linens like beds with sheets, comforters, and pillows to neighbors in need.

Initially, Abbate Insurance Associates, Inc. received a $5,000 donation through the Liberty Mutual® and Safeco Insurance® 2026 Make More Happen™ Awards program for its partnership with Linens of Love. After the story was featured on the Make More Happen microsite at agentgiving.com/abbate-insurance-associates, the community rallied with over 750 votes and comments—triggering a matching donation and bringing the total to $10,000.

“Offering stability and reassurance is core to what insurance agencies do. Our team believes that a warm bed and clean linens are a simple, powerful way to restore dignity,” said Pursell. “All staffing, office space, storage, and overhead for Linens of Love are provided by Abbate Insurance Associates, Inc. so that nearly 100% of donations go directly to buying the items our neighbors need.”

Abbate Insurance Associates, Inc. employees play a hands-on role in keeping Linens of Love running—contributing time, muscle, and donations by loading cars, carrying items to the office pick-up point, and supporting daily operations. As demand continues to grow, Linens of Love has expanded its partnerships, including supplying CT Beds with sheets, comforters, and pillows for 80 twin beds from May through December of this past year and launching a new collaboration with Someone Cares Closet of the Yale Child Study Center.

Throughout 2026, Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance will select up to 36 independent agencies nationwide for a Make More Happen Award, donating up to $360,000 to nonprofits they support. Agencies become eligible for the award by submitting applications that highlight their commitment to a specific cause.
