With 'Engage, Partner, Empower' Mission, Cops Reach Out On Social
Recognizing that engaging with the community is more important than ever, New Haven police debuts new, official Facebook, Instagram pages.

NEW HAVEN, CT — The New Haven Police Department has a new official Facebook page. It premiered last Thursday, albeit quietly. It also has a brand-new official Instagram page.
Police spokesperson Scott Shumway told Patch that the department's new social media presence is an important way for police to connect with the community.
"Communities get a lot of their information from social media, so it's important for the New Haven Police Department to have a strong social media presence, one that reaches and engages our communities."

One of its first posts on the newly created Facebook page was a community introduction of new cop on the beat, Tyler Evans. Evans was being trained and mentored by Field Training Officer David Simpson.

Another of its new posts included more than 30 photos from the summer 2022 PAL camp.
Posts will include ones like these and also, press releases, so the community gets news directly from cops. Police shared the tragic news of a crash that killed a North Branford 22-year-old, for example.
Meanwhile, over on Instagram, police shared officer Ismail Abdussabur's story.
On the job for two years, he works the graveyard shift in Fair Haven. And hopes to one day end up on the department's detective squad. But for now, is "focused on learning the job."
He's following in the footsteps of his father, the Instagram posts reads. He's the son of Shafiq Abdussabur, who retired as a Sergeant from the NHPD a few years ago and is an active member of the community.
So give a follow to both the new, official New Haven Police Department Facebook page and Instagram page to engage with police on social.
