Fire Under Control After Reported Explosion In New Haven
Firefighters are battling a fire Tuesday morning.
NEW HAVEN, CT — Firefighters responded to a reported explosion at 808 Washington Avenue Tuesday morning. The explosion was heard by residents in several towns, according to social media posts.
Firefighters reported smoke and fire in a piece of equipment, according to the New Haven Fire Department Twitter account. Sims Metal Management is located at the address.
The scene was under control before 9:15 a.m. and no injuries were reported. The fire occurred in a compactor that was filled with metal and a gas cylinder, according to the New Haven Register.
