'Fat Boy' Sentenced for Role in New Haven Heroin Ring

A total of 17 people were arrested and pleaded guilty during the investigation.

NEW HAVEN, CT—A city man was sentenced to 34 months in prison for his part in a heroin distribution ring.

An investigation involving wiretaps, surveillance and controlled purchased of heroin led to the arrest of 17 people, including Miguel Soto aka "Fat Boy," according to the U.S. Attorney District of Connecticut office.

Soto's residence was used to package heroin for distribution.

About 500 grams of raw heroin, three handguns and five vehicles were seized by law enforcement. Bank accounts containing more than $300,000 were frozen.

Soto was arrested July 15, 2015 and pleaded guilty April 12.

All 17 arrestees have pleaded guilty.

Investigation revealed that Wilson Vasquez, also known as “Pancho,” obtained bulk quantities of heroin, processed and packaged the drug with several co-conspirators, and then distributed the drug through a network of street-level distributors operating in the area of Ferry Street, Grand Avenue and Blatchley Avenue in New Haven’s Fair Haven neighborhood.
