Fatal Overdose, Stabbing Investigated In New Haven: Police
A woman died after suffering an overdose, and a man was hospitalized after being stabbed multiple times in New Haven, according to police.

NEW HAVEN, CT — A woman died after suffering an overdose, and a man was hospitalized after being stabbed multiple times Thursday night in New Haven, according to police.
Police are investigating to determine if the incidents, which occurred in the same area, were related, according to Sgt. Cherelle D. Carr.
Firefighters responded around 7:10 p.m. to the report of an unconscious woman in the 300 block of Howard Avenue. Crews determined that the woman was suffering from an overdose, according to Carr.

Carr said that while aid was being rendered to the woman, a man who suffered from multiple stab wounds approached fire personnel.
The woman and man were both taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where Carr said the woman was pronounced dead.

The man suffered injuries that weren’t life-threatening and was reported to be in stable condition, according to Carr.
Carr said the man couldn’t provide any information on the suspect responsible for the stabbing.
Detectives spoke with witnesses in the area and found a crime scene at First Street and Howard Avenue, according to Carr. Witnesses said a large fight happened in the area before the overdose and stabbing was reported.
“An active investigation is underway, detectives are considering the circumstances to determine if the two incidents are related,” Carr wrote in a news release. “Further details regarding the incident will be released as soon as they become available.
