Firefighters Rescue Person In Quinnipiac Ave. Fire, 6 Displaced: FD
A woman trapped inside a Monday morning fire was rescued but is in "critical condition" and a "canine was also rescued" but didn't survive.

NEW HAVEN, CT —A fire on the first floor of a two-and a half-family Quinnipiac Avenue wood-frame house was reported at around 9 a.m., according to the New Haven Fire Department.
With several engine companies at the scene at 1146 Quinnipiac Ave., firefighters said that one person who was trapped was rescued.
"One victim found," firefighters tweeted.

Assistant Fire Chief Justin McCarthy told Patch that the woman who was trapped in the fire and then recused by firefighters is in critical condition.
McCarthy said that there are no reported firefighter injuries. He said the "fire was placed under control in 27 minutes." Some 35 firefighters were on scene, he said.

The Fire Investigative Unit of the Fire Marshal's Office are "on scene working to determine a cause of the fire."
And tragically, McCarthy said, "a canine was also rescued, unfortunately, the canine did not survive."
WTNH reported that a total of six people were displaced as a result of the house fire.
"The Red Cross is currently on scene and offering assistance to those impacted by the fire. We will continue to monitor the needs of this response," Red Cross spokesperson Jonathan Sandstrom said of the five adults and one child left displaced by the fire.
