NEW HAVEN, CT — After nine rounds of gunfire erupted on George Street Wednesday night, two people with gunshot wounds were "dropped off" at the Yale New Haven Hospital Saint Raphael campus, police said.

The 8:30 p.m. shooting was in the area of the 800 block of George Street, near Winthrop Avenue, and just two blocks from the hospital. One victim had a non-life-threatening graze wound while the other had "serious injuries but is in stable condition," according to New Haven police spokesperson, Capt. Rose Dell.

Dell said investigators found nine fired cartridge casings and a handgun with an obliterated serial number hidden under a parked car nearby.

Detectives from the police Major Crimes Unit and Bureau of Identification collected evidence, and searched for video surveillance footage and witnesses, Dell said, adding the investigation is ongoing.
