Gun Fired During New Haven Robbery
A robber fired the gun as he fled the store, police said.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Police are investigating after a gun was fired during a robbery incident at Papis' Convience Store on State Street.
Two men walked inside the store Nov. 6 around 10 p.m. One was armed with a silver gun and the other a knife. The gun-wielding man grabbed an employee by the shirt, but the employee was able to wriggle his way out of it, said Officer David Hartman, police spokesman. The accomplice armed with a knife went behind the counter and threatened to kill the employee.
The clerk opened both the lottery and store register drawers and handed over $200. Both men then fled the store. Another clerk in the back described the gun as a semiautomatic pistol and said he raised his arms when the gunman pointed the barrel at him.

The third clerk told police that he threatened to call police on the robbers and ran outside through the back door. He threw a piece of concrete at one of the perpetrators as he fled. The robber armed with a gun fired it, but the clerk wasn't hit.
"The gunman is about thirty years old, muscular and stands about 5’08” tall. He was clad in blue track-pants and a grey sweatshirt with the number 11 on the back," Hartman said. "He was masked during the robbery. His partner-in-crime is about 5’08” and fat. He had the knife."
