Harp Proposes 11% New Haven Tax Increase
Harp said a big reason for the increase is a projected loss in state aid.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Mayor Toni Harp is proposing a 11 percent tax increase. She criticized the state for sending more aid to other cities.
Her budget recommends a 1.52 percent increase in the general city budget and an 18 percent increase in the capital budget, according to the New Haven Register. She is also recommending a $5 million increase to the Board of Education budget.
It would be the first mill rate increase since Harp took office in 2014. The new mill rate would be 42.98.
