Heralded New Haven Restaurant Reopens After Two Years
An old-school sandwich shop is back after being closed down by a fire two years ago.
NEW HAVEN, CT — B&M Deli is back after a fire shut down the eatery two years ago, according to The New Haven Register. The restaurant serves classics like steak and cheese subs, pastrami sandwiches, meatball grinders, and bacon and egg and cheese sandwiches.
B&M was established in 1966 and is located at 644 Ferry St. The deli is open 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
Reconstruction of the restaurant cost $600,000, according to The Register. The deli's owners have tried to restore everything as they had it before the fire.

The deli was damaged in a two-alarm fire in August 2017 that also damaged an adjacent package store.
Social media has been abuzz about the reopening. One Facebook user said: "Good morning y’all, B&M is finally open! (Steak, cheese, lettuce, mayo, onions, bacon)." She went on to describe the shop's massive sandwiches as "not for the faint of heart."

Another said the prices are a little high, but "you get what you pay for."
"Fantastic place to go for a very tasty grinder! The family and I were out there and were starving and let me tell you this place hit the spot! We got a steak and cheese and a roast beef sub and they were both awesome!"
You'll want to give yourself plenty of time if you decide to head over to B&M—lines have reportedly been up to an hour long.
