'Howling' Woman Taken To Hospital, NHPD Investigates

The woman was found injured crawling in a man's driveway.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Police are investigating after a "howling" woman was found injured outside, according to police.

The 42-year-old woman was found in the area of Eldert Street and West Park Avenue around 12:11 a.m. May 8, said Officer David Hartman, police spokesman. A caller thought the sounds were an injured animal and went to investigate when he found the woman crawling in his driveway.

Another neighbor said the woman was "howling."

The woman had deep cuts to her knees and face along with abrasions to her arms and torso. She was intubated at the hospital and was unable to communicate with detectives.

There was no forensic indication at the time of the police press release that the woman is the victim of a crime at the hands of another.

Detectives won't be able to conduct a full investigation until the woman is extubated and able and willing to speak with them.
