Instagram 'Threat' Against Hillhouse School, Cops Being Investigated

NEW HAVEN, CT — Tuesday, police were "alerted to a concerning Instagram message being passed around amongst students and staff at Hillhouse High School," New Haven police Capt. Rose Dell said.

The post "contained threats of violence against police officers and the school," Dell, the department spokesperson said.

The Detective Bureau initiated an investigation and was able to locate the student responsible
through the IP location of the Instagram account, Dell said. The student has admitted to making the post and claimed it was a joke, she added. The student has been admitted to the hospital for a mental health evaluation, Dell said.

The investigation is ongoing, and charges will be sought, police said.

“We take threats of violence very seriously, and we will do everything in our power to
investigate and address these threats,” Chief of Police Karl Jacobson said. “We are
committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents and will take all necessary
actions to achieve that goal.”
