Juvenile Shot, Car Hits Police Cruisers In Downtown New Haven: Cops
Officers in the area heard gunshots and saw a large crowd running in several different directions through downtown New Haven, police said.
NEW HAVEN, CT — A vehicle that crashed into two police cruisers in downtown New Haven appears to be associated with a shooting that injured a juvenile, according to authorities.
Officers heard what they believed to be gunshots around 2:30 a.m. Sunday while assigned to the area of Chapel and Temple streets and saw a large crowd running in several different directions, police said.
The officers then saw a car driving erratically toward oncoming traffic and tried to stop the vehicle, but it continued, colliding with two cruisers at College and George streets, according to police. The driver and passenger attempted to flee, but the passenger was apprehended, although the driver was not, police said, adding the vehicle was towed for processing.

Around 2:45 a.m., law enforcement was notified about a juvenile who had been shot in the leg, according to police, who said the victim was in stable condition.
“This is an ongoing investigation and being treated as one incident, at this time we cannot definitively say if the vehicle that collided with officers was involved in the shooting,” police said in a news release.
