Leader Of New Haven Heroin Trafficking Ring Pleads Guilty

The man is accused of running a large ring that moved heroin from New York to other parts of the country.

NEW HAVEN, CT — The leader of a New Haven heroin trafficking ring pleaded guilty in federal court Thursday. Antonio Gonzalez aka "Bienve," 47, of New Haven pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute, and distribution of, one kilogram or more of heroin.

Gonzalez and his brother purchased bulk quantities of heroin in the Bronx and distributed it in New Haven and elsewhere, according to the U.S. Attorney District of Connecticut.

The investigation resulted in federal charges for 24 people.

Gonzalez faces at least 10 years in prison when sentenced. He has been detained since March 2017. Brother Bienvendido Gonzalez pleaded guilty to the same crime and agreed to forfeit $10,000 in cash, his interest in a New Haven barbershop, two race cares and a truck.
