NEW HAVEN, CT —Late Thursday morning, a man called cops claiming bombs had been planted at police headquarters and in two downtown New Haven federal buildings, police said.

It was 11:30 a.m. and cops went to all three locations simultaneously and evacuated police headquarters on Union Street, the federal building at 150 Court St. and the federal courthouse at 141 Church St., according to police spokesperson Sgt, Cherelle Carr.

Carr said the "hazardous device unit" did sweeps of all the sites and found nothing. She added that after "conducting a swift investigation," police identified Terrell Walton, 32, "as the person responsible for both bombs threats."
