NEW HAVEN, CT — New Haven police are investigating a collision at around 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Long Wharf Drive. The driver of a motorcycle is listed in critical condition after colliding with a tow truck, police said.

Police Capt. Rose Dell explained what happened: a Dodge Ram tow truck was turning right from the straight lane on Long Wharf towards Canal Dock Road. At the same time, a Suzuki motorcycle was traveling straight in the right-turn only lane on Long Wharf behind the tow truck. As the Dodge Ram executed the turning maneuver, the two vehicles collided.

The New Haven Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Team has completed its initial on-scene investigation, Dell said, adding investigators will continue to search for witnesses and video surveillance. "The investigation is expected to take some time," Dell said.
