Multiple Shootings Reported In July In New Haven

The month is off to a rough start with several gunshot victims.

NEW HAVEN, CT — There have been three reported shooting victims since the beginning of the month in New Haven.

The most recent shooting happened shortly before 4 a.m. July 3 on Munston Street. A Hamden 19-year-old was shot in the abdomen and required surgery, said Officer David Hartman, police spokesman.

Another shooting was reported at 2:14 a.m. July 1. A caller said his sister was shot in the head and they were driving to the hospital. The victim's wound is non-life threatening.

Initially the driver of the car parked a distance from the hospital and refused to cooperate with police. He later told police he and the victim were in his BMW on Bouchet Lane when someone shot through the car's windshield.

A walk-in gunshot victim went to the Yale New Haven Hospital emergency room after 2 a.m. July 1. His wound wasn't life threatening and he refused to cooperate with police, Hartman said. Police are investigating but the crime scene location is unknown.
