Nearby Schools Locked Down After New Haven Shooting

Three schools were put into lockdown after the nearby shooting.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Hillhouse High School, Wexler Grant, and R. Mayo schools in New Haven were put into lockdown after a nearby shooting Wednesday. The lockdown has since been lifted.

Police are investigating a shooting that that was reported around 12:30 p.m. A 25-year-old victim was shot in the leg and taken to the hospital, said Officer David Hartman, police spokesman. He is in stable condition. The shooter remains at large.

The victim told police he was shot on Henry Street while sitting on a porch. He went to Townsend Street and called for assistance.
