New Haven Gang Member Gets 11 Years In Federal Prison
He sold drugs and obtained guns for gang use, according to federal prosecutors.

NEW HAVEN, CT — City resident Willie Garvin was sentenced to 11 years in federal prison for his role in the Red Side Guerilla Brims gang, according to federal prosecutors.
Garvin traveled frequently to Maine to sell crack cocaine and heroin in the Bangor area, according to the U.S. Attorney District of Connecticut office. He also coordinated the purchase of several firearms which were transported back to the New Haven area for gang use.
Garvin routinely robbed drug dealers for cash and seriously wounded a person during an attempted robbery in 2011. He also robbed a marijuana dealer in 2013, according to the attorney's office.

Garvin pleaded guilty in Connecticut to possession of a firearm by a previously convicted felon, conspiracy to interfere with commerce by robbery, and discharging a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence. He also pleaded guilty to charges stemming out of Maine.
