New Haven Gang Member, Murderer Gets 18 Years In Prison
He admitted to being involved in four murders, other shootings and a home invasion.

NEW HAVEN, CT — A New Haven man who acted as a gang enforcer was sentenced to 18 years in federal prison for his role in the Red Side Guerilla Brims gang.
The gang was involved in drug dealing, murders, armed robberies and other violent crime. Luis Padilla, 25, aka "Chewie" committed robberies and shootings and oversaw the gang's operation in Maine, according to the U.S. Attorney District of Connecticut office.
He has been detained since August 2014 and pleaded guilty to one count of engaging in a pattern of racketeering activity, one count of murder in aid of racketeering, and one count of possession of a firearm by a previously convicted felon. He admitted his involvement of the gang-related murders of Derrick Suggs, Kevin Lee and Donnell Allick in 2011 along with two other New Haven shootings. He also took part in a home invasion in 2012.
He later pleaded guilty to additional charges in 2017 and admitted that he shot and killed Thomas Daniels Jr. in 2009 when he was 16-years-old prior to his involvement with the gang.

The U S. Attorney's office noted he cooperated with investigators.
