NEW HAVEN, CT — A New Haven heroin dealer was sentenced to three years in prison for his part in a heroin trafficking ring.

Ismael Ruiz, 51, aka "Papo" was sentenced in U.S. District court Monday. The investigation centered on a trafficking ring that operated out of the Bronx, New York and sold heroin through redistributors, some of which ended up in New Haven, according to the U.S. Attorney's office.

A total of 24 people have been charged federally as part of the case. Ruiz pleaded guilty in August 2017 to one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute, and distribution of, heroin.
