New Haven Lays Off 24 Educators
The layoffs come as the school system aims to close a multi-million dollar deficit.

NEW HAVEN, CT — The Board of Education laid off 24 educators as the school system faces a multi-million dollar deficit.
Most of those laid off were school counselors and library media specialists, according to the New Haven Register. More layoffs were spared thanks to reducing positions by attrition.
The school system is looking at a projected $8.4 million deficit. It has closed one high school, consolidated three alternative schools and ended some property leases.
