New Haven Man Chokes, Assaults Woman In Milford: Police

The accused is facing several charges and was arrested on Wednesday, police said.

MILFORD, CT — A New Haven man is accused of assaulting and choking a woman in Milford, police said. On Sept. 26, police responded to the area of Meadows End Road near Old Point Road on a report of a possible domestic violence incident, which had just occurred in a local residence, police said.

Officers arrived and found a man, Joshua Hayes, 31, of Hurlburt Street in New Haven, who had left the home after the female victim had called 911, police said. Investigation led to the arrest of Hayes who is accused of wrapping his arm around the female's neck and restricting her breathing during the course of a verbal argument, police said.

He is charged with disorderly conduct, third-degree assault and second-degree strangulation.
