New Haven Man Dies 2 Days After Shooting: Police

New Haven police are asking for the public's help gathering information about the Wednesday shooting on Dixwell Avenue.

NEW HAVEN, CT — A New Haven man is dead following a Wednesday shooting, according to police.

In a statement released Saturday, New Haven police said 25-year-old Ramon Yates died Friday from injuries suffered in a shooting on Dixwell Avenue near West Hazel Street.

The shooting happened shortly after 6:30 p.m., police said.

Before his death, Yates was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

After reviewing evidence and interviewing witnesses, detectives from the New Haven Police Department's Major Crimes Division as well as the Bureau of Identification are continuing to pursue leads, according to police.
