New Haven Man Eats Evidence, Still Gets Charged: Milford PD
The accused was originally held in lieu of bond and is charged with several offenses.

MILFORD, CT — A New Haven man is accused of shoplifting at Sears in Milford and when police went to seize the suspected counterfeit currency that he possessed he simply ate it, police said. On Sept. 11, police responded to Sears, 1201 Boston Post Road on a report of a shoplifter in custody, police said.
While investigating the shoplifting of over $120 worth of goods, it was discovered by officers that Mizraim Diaz-Rivera, 42, of Truman Street, possibly had a counterfeit $20 bill in his possession, police said.
Diaz-Rivera was told the counterfeit bill would also be investigate and ate the counterfeit money, police said. He is also accused of being in possession of prescription medication which he does not hold a prescription for, police said.

He is charged with first-degree forgery, sixth-degree larceny, tampering with evidence, second-degree breach of peace, interfering with a police officer, and possession of narcotics. He was originally held in lieu of a $10,000 bond.
