New Haven Man Gets 25 Years For 2018 Rape Of Unconscious Woman: State

New Haven, CT —Maurice Brown, 45, was sentenced to 25 years in prison for a 2018 sexual assault in New Haven, the New Haven State’s Attorney said Thursday.

The New Haven man will see his sentenced suspended serving 20 years, according to John P. Doyle, Jr.

According to Doyle, on March 6, 2023, a jury in New Haven Superior Court convicted Brown of first degree sexual assault and third-degree sexual assault.

Brown’s conviction stems from the rape of a victim in 2018 in New Haven, the prosecutor said. "Evidence presented at trial showed that Brown gave the victim a substance that rendered her unconscious before the sexual assault," Doyle said.

The case was prosecuted by Senior Assistant State’s Attorney Alex C. Beck and Assistant State’s Attorney Kelly E. Davis, with assistance from former Special Inspector Michael Pendleton. The New Haven State’s Attorney’s Office wants to thank the New Haven Police Department for their investigative efforts and dedication to this case.
