New Haven Man With Lengthy Record Charged In Fair Haven Homicide: Cops

Hommy Lugo-Rodriguez, 46, was charged with murder in the July 15 stabbing death of Robert Franklin, 49 of New Haven, police said.

NEW HAVEN, CT — In 2020, Hommy Lugo-Rodriquez was charged by North Haven cops with assaulting an officer and biting another person who was helping the officer at Home Depot in North Haven. His trial on that case is set to begin in August, records show.

This week, New Haven police charged the 46-year-old with a lengthy criminal record in connection with a fatal stabbing, police spokesperson Capt. Rose Dell said.

On the afternoon of July 15, police got a number of 911 calls for a person stabbed and unresponsive near the fire hydrant at the intersection of Lloyd and Exchange streets, Dell said. Taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital, he died from his injuries, Dell said.

Lugo-Rodriguez is being held on a $2 million bail.
