New Haven Man Pleads Guilty To Federal Robbery Charge

He faces at least five years in prison.

NEW HAVEN, CT — A city man pleaded guilty to felony robbery and firearm charges.

New Haven Police were dispatched to Ferry Street on June 30, 2016 on a report of a person who was shot. One victim was found shot in the elbow and another victim was bleeding from the nose, according to the U.S. Attorney District of Connecticut office.

Shaquille Richardson, 23, and another individual attacked the victims as they exited a convenience store in an attempt to steal marijuana, according to the attorney's office.

Richardson was apprehended near the scene of the robbery. He had a gash to his hand that came from one of the victims who attacked in self defense.

Richardson pleaded guilty to one count of Hobbs Act Robbery and one count of carrying a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence. He faces at least five years in prison.
