New Haven Man Sentenced in Cop Assault Case: Report
A New Haven man who had been arrested last October for assaulting a police officer has been sentenced to 18 months in jail.

NEW HAVEN, CT — A New Haven man who pleaded guilty to assaulting an East Haven Police officer last August has been sentenced to 18 months behind bars, the New Haven Register reports.
Police say that, on Aug. 14, 2017, John Wesley Williams, 32, was pulled over for a routine traffic stop. He was initially cooperative, but began acting suspiciously when asked to exit the car, the Register reports. When police attempted to handcuff Williams, a scuffle ensued, and one officer suffered a concussion and a broken nose, the Register reports.
