New Haven Mom Sentenced In Child Abuse Case

She stood by as her boyfriend burned the hands of her children.

NEW HAVEN, CT — A mother who reportedly stood by as her boyfriend severely burned the hands of her daughters was sentenced to three years in prison.

Natasha Figuerora, 30, cooperated with prosecutors during the trial of her boyfriend Michael Torres, who was sentenced to 28 years in prison for burning the girls, according to the New Haven Register.

The girls 4 and 8-years-old sustained serious burn injuries from the gas stove. The 4-year-old had several fingertips amputated and spent a month in a burn unit.

Both girls also talked ot their foster mother about the neglect, including being forced to eat out of a garbage can.
