New Haven Woman Assaulted Cop While Shoplifting: Hamden Police
Police say the woman was wanted on nine outstanding arrest warrants.

HAMDEN, CT — A woman who was wanted on nine arrest warrants is accused of assaulting a police officer while trying to steal $130 worth of merchandise from Burlington Coat Factory in Hamden, according to police. Hamden Police responded to the store, located at 2300 Dixwell Avenue, at about 1:15 p.m. on Sept. 10 on the report of a shoplifting.
Zhane Flynn, accused of attempting to steal $130 worth of merchandise, fled from the store when police arrived on the scene, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.
Smith said Officer Joseph Venditto apprehended Flynn, who “violently resisted arrest.” Venditto suffered a laceration to top of his head and was treated at the scene by Hamden Fire Rescue, according to Smith.

Police later learned that Flynn was wanted on nine outstanding arrest warrants.
Flynn, 22, of Quinnipiac Avenue in New Haven, was charged with third-degree robbery, assault on a police officer, interfering with a police officer, sixth-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny and possession of a shoplifting device. She was additionally charged for the outstanding arrest warrants, including two counts of first-degree criminal trespass, sixth-degree larceny, violation of probation and three counts of second-degree failure to appear. Flynn, who was detained on bonds totaling $60,000, is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Sept. 24.
