The woman's ex-boyfriend attacked her, according to police.

NEW HAVEN, CT — A city woman was stabbed in the buttocks during a domestic dispute involving her ex-boyfriend, according to police.

The woman met police outside of a Maltby Street apartment around 12:30 a.m. July 27. Inside police found Derrick Parker, 57. The victim said Parker and a friend visited earlier on in the night and that she asked them to leave when drinking switched from beer to hard liquor.

Parker's friend left, but Parker stayed, said Officer David Hartman, police spokesman. The woman told police Parker became more aggressive and saw he had a knife in his hand. She ran for a closet, but was cut on the way.

Parker claimed his ex-girlfriend woke him from a sleep and demanded $20 to buy crack, Hartman said. He refused and she began to beat him with a broomstick, according to his account.

Parker was charged with second-degree assault, breach of peace, fourth-degree criminal mischief and second-degree threatening. He was also arrested on an outstanding 2016 warrant for a domestic incident with the same woman.
