New Haven Woman Stole $18K From 94-Year-Old: Naugatuck Police

The guard worked at an elderly housing complex.

NAUGATUCK, CT —A New Haven woman, who worked as a security guard in an elderly housing complex in Naugatuck, stole more than $18,000 from a 94-year-old resident, police and the Republican-American reports.

Naugatuck Police say Nyeisha Douglas, 27, of Howard Avenue in New Haven, was arrested on a warrant on Jan. 16 for a larceny complaint. Police said Douglas stole checks from the victim and fradulently cashed them for various amounts. She is charged with multiple larceny, forgery and identity theft charges.

The Rep-Am says Douglas worked at the Robert E. Hutt Congregate housing complex on Millville Avenue as a security guard. A dozen checks were forged with amounts ranging from $500 to $2,100, the Rep-Am reports.

Douglas was initially given a $30,000 bond but was released on a promise to appear in court by a judge, the Rep-Am reports.
