Obituary: Melvin Mason, 43, of New Haven

Melvin Mason, 43, passed away at his New Haven home on September 26, 2018. Melvin was a journalist for more than 20 years, and was the editor of the Stratford Star newspaper in Stratford, Connecticut. He was a 1996 graduate of Syracuse University, and an avid sports fan.

He leaves behind his wife of one year, Alison Mason, and his 8-year-old stepdaughter Laura. He is survived by his older brother Alfonzo Mason, his older sister Marlene Mason, and his younger sister, Genevieve Mason. He is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Vera Mason of Brooklyn, New York.

A calling hour will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Oct. 5 at Howard K. Hill Funeral Services, located at 1287 Chapel Street in New Haven.
