Obituary: Salvatore A. Criscio Jr. 79

Prior to his retirement Sal served 20 years as the superintendent of Public Works for the City of New Haven.

Salvatore A. Criscio Jr. 79, of East Haven husband of 50 years to Marie Criscuolo Criscio passed away on October 1, 2016 in Yale New Haven Hospital St. Raphael Campus. Loving father of Marc (Sherri) Criscio and Dean Criscio all of East Haven.

Brother of Jennie Kaminsky of West Haven, Michael (Cathy) Criscio of Northford, Albert (Rosemary) Criscio of West Haven and the late Mary Lou Nystrand and Pasquale and Anthony Criscio. Also survived by several nieces and nephews and several great nieces and great nephews.

Sal was born in New Haven on February 8, 1937 son of the late Salvatore A. and Jeanette Petti Criscio Sr. Prior to his retirement Sal served 20 years as the superintendent of Public Works for the City of New Haven. He also was the vice-president of the Notre Dame High School Fathers Club, was the Assistant Registrar of Voters for 12 years for the 12th ward New Haven, chairman of the 12th ward for 28 years, was elected to the Board of Aldermen 12th ward in 1979, and was appointed by Mayor DiLieto to the Tax Revenue Board in 1980.

His funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte. 80) East Haven WEDNESDAY morning at 10:30 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Pompeii Church at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Friends may call TUESDAY from 5pm to 8pm.
