Obituary: Wendy Marie Romano, 60, of New Haven
She carried that love of dance throughout her teens and twenties, often visiting dance clubs with her friends.

Wendy Marie Romano, 60, of New Haven, CT, formerly of Stamford and Milford, CT, passed away peacefully at Yale New Haven Hospital with her sister, Deb, at her side, on Friday, November 25, 2016.
The cause of death was septic shock as a complication from a nearly lifelong battle with multiple sclerosis. Before MS robbed Wendy of her mobility, she led an active life, enjoying a variety of interests. Wendy loved the freedom of flying through the air in a glider plane and spent many happy hours above ground.
She had a creative flair for color and design, which she mainly expressed through her clothing. Unlike her three wimpy female siblings, Wendy had a great fondness for high heels and wore them well. She loved to dance.

Her sister, Jacki, fondly remembers Wendy’s early adolescent years spent dancing in the bedroom they shared. Much to Jacki’s chagrin at the time, Wendy loved Bobby Sherman and David Cassidy music, and she and her friends danced with abandon to their songs every day.
She carried that love of dance throughout her teens and twenties, often visiting dance clubs with her friends. Wendy, who had beautiful slender hands with long tapering fingernails, was proud of her brief work as a hand model for Krementz Jewelry. She didn’t take herself too seriously though.

She liked to see how long she could grow just one fingernail – an amazing 2 inches! In later life, when Wendy was confined to a wheelchair, she took great pleasure doing crossword puzzles, in ink, even as her memory was failing her.
She had a lifelong love of dogs, and after moving to a nursing home in 2010 due to the need for 24 hour care, Wendy looked forward to visits with the therapy dog. She is a graduate of Stamford Catholic High School and Norwalk Community College and was a member of the Milford, CT MS Support Group.
Wendy is survived by her siblings, Deb Romano of Milford, CT, Betsy Fierro (Steve) of North Plainfield, NJ, Tony Romano (Megan) of Flourtown, PA, and Jacki Romano (Jack McArdle) of Harwinton, CT. She is also survived by four nieces and two nephews as well as a great niece and a great nephew. Wendy is predeceased by her parents, Margaret M. Romano and Anthony G. Romano.
