1 Critically Wounded In New Haven Shooting: Police

At 6 a.m., shots rang out in the 100 block of Henry St., near Orchard St., and after, a gunshot wound victim "walked into hospital:" Police.

NEW HAVEN, CT — It was just after 6 in the morning Tuesday when police got a ShotSpotter alert, and 911 calls, reporting shots fired at the intersection of Henry and Orchard streets, police said.

As officers were responding, there came a report of a "walk-in gunshot victim" at Yale-New Haven Hospital, York Street campus, according to New Haven police spokesperson Capt. Rose Dell. She said the victim is in critical but stable condition.

Police located a crime scene in front of a house in the 100 block of Henry Street, she said, with the first floor of the house struck multiple times by gunfire. But, Dell said, once the "first floor of the house was cleared, and there were no victims or occupants located."

An active investigation is underway by New Haven police detectives, she said, with "further details regarding the incident will be released as they become available."
