PD Investigates Weekend Shooting Of 39-Year-Old Man In Newhallville

The shooting victim was found slumped against a parked car Saturday morning on Winchester Ave. between Starr and Hazel streets, police said.

NEW HAVEN, CT — A 39-year-old man was shot late Saturday morning in Newhallville, police said.

Just before 11:30 a.m., police got a 911 call notifying them that a person had been shot, according to New Haven police Capt. Rose Dell. She said no additional calls were received, and ShotSpotter was not activated.

When cops got there they found the gunshot victim leaning against a parked unoccupied
vehicle, on Winchester Avenue between Starr and Hazel streets. Taken to Yale-
New Haven Hospital for treatment, Dell said, medical staff told cops the man's injuries were critical, but he was "stabilized."

Detectives from the NHPD Major Crimes Division and the Bureau of Identification collected
evidence, spoke to witnesses, viewed video surveillance footage and are asking for the public’s help, Dell said.
