Police Investigating Late Night Shooting Near Rosewood Avenue: PD

It was 11:15 p.m. Tuesday, when ShotSpotter activated to 13 rounds ​fired. Shortly after, it was reported a man had been shot.

NEW HAVEN, CT — A late Tuesday night shooting is being investigates by police.

It was 11:15 p.m., when ShotSpotter activated to 13 rounds fired in the area of Rosewood Avenue near Hemingway Street, New Haven police spokesperson Capt. Rose Dell said. Minutes later, a person was shot and drove himself to the New Haven Fire Department company on East Grand Avenue, she said. Firefighters "provided immediate medical assistance" and the man was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Officer Jemiola and K9 Enzo arrived, she said, and a track was initiated from the firehouse which led to a wooded area. K9 Enzo alerted to a briefcase and two bags, Dell said. Officers found two firearms and what appeared to be narcotics within the bags, she said.

Detectives from the department’s Major Crimes Unit and Bureau of Identification collected
evidence, searched for video surveillance, and are "working diligently to gather all the facts
related to this incident," Dell said.
