NEW HAVEN, CT – One of the busier restaurants on State Street in New Haven that has been closed for the past month will soon re-open with a new name and new owners who already run one of the more popular, award-winning sports bars in Fairfield County.
J.P. Dempsey’s on State Street will be opening as Bradys Sports Bar at JP Dempsey’s – possibly as soon as May 8th, according to Sandy Sutilia, who will run the restaurant along with her husband Mike Sutilia.

Sandy Sutilia described her family as “big Patriots fans,” hence the name “Brady” for the sports bar – and said they’ve been hoping to buy the State Street restaurant for the past few years and things fell into place recently.
She said the restaurant “will be a great sports bar, with nine wide screen TVs, great bar service, burgers and wings.”

She said the State Street restaurant will be identical in style to a restaurant the family owns and runs in Redding – the Lumberyard Pub & Sports Bar, an award-winning restaurant.
On the Lumberyard Pub’s website, the restaurant is described as: “Family owned & operated since 2008 by Mike and Sandy Sutila, & their children, Jenn, Annie, Jared & Jager. As a family of six sports nuts, we were always looking for an affordable place to watch our favorite team (The Patriots) & have a great meal.
“When we couldn't find one, we decided to create one, and hence the Lumberyard Pub! As you may have guessed, we were once an actual Lumberyard. Beginning our life as Connery's Lumber, we remained a Lumberyard until our purchase of an empty shell in 2006. After two years of renovation, we opened our doors in August of 2008. Thank you to all our neighbors, patrons & friends for an amazing 7 years of success. We obviously would be no where without YOU!”
