Shooting Investigated In New Haven

A teen, 18, was hospitalized after being shot while walking in New Haven, according to police.

NEW HAVEN, CT — An 18-year-old man sustained non-life-threatening injuries after being shot while walking in New Haven on Sunday night, according to police. At about 7:15 p.m. on May 27, police responded to a Fowler Street residence on the report of a shooting. The 18-year-old victim told police that he had been shot while walking on Fowler Street, according to police spokesman Officer David Hartman.

Hartman said the victim was wounded in his thigh and hand and went home to call the police. The victim was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening wounds. Detectives located ballistic evidence at the corner of Amity Road and Fowler Street, according to Hartman. The victim told police he couldn’t describe who shot him. An older gray Honda Accord reportedly took off after shots were fired, Hartman said.
