Sleeping Man In Mercedes-Benz On Sherman Ave. Carjacked, Robbed: PD

On the 200-block of Sherman Ave., a man, 39, fell asleep in his car "waiting for his girlfriend" and woke to a masked, gun-pointing man: PD

NEW HAVEN, CT — A man sleeping in his Mercedes-Benz on Sherman Avenue was carjacked Wednesday evening, police said.

At around 6:30 pm, cops said they were called to the 200-block of Sherman and were told by the 39-year-old victim that he'd fallen asleep in his car "waiting for his girlfriend." And, New Haven police spokesperson Rose Dell said, he "woke up to a male wearing a face covering pointing a gun at him and demanding his vehicle." The man told cops, when he got out of his car, "two more males showed up who also had guns."

The three took off in his black Mercedes-Benz, CT Registration BD77301, on Sherman Avenue onto Maple Street with the victim’s wallet containing $600 and credit cards, and his Android phone in the Benz.

Dell said all three suspects "wore face coverings so he could only describe them as young
males wearing black jackets."
