Southern CT State University Student, 20, Shot Thursday Night: Police
The student was meeting someone in a Dunkin' parking lot when an "an altercation occurred and another individual fired a weapon," SCSU said.

NEW HAVEN, CT —A 20-year-old Southern Connecticut State University student was shot during an attempted robbery, a university spokesperson told Patch.
Both the university and the New Haven Police Department are investigating the 10:15 p.m. shooting at the corner of Fitch and Blake streets.
New Haven police spokesperson Scott Shumway said it was Yale New Haven Hospital that called police after the man walked into the hospital suffering from a gunshot wound. He was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, Shumway said.

An SCSU spokesperson said he was released after treatment.
The student was meeting someone they knew in the Dunkin' Donuts parking lot when an "an altercation occurred and another individual fired a weapon," according to SCSU spokesperson Victoria A. Verderame.

Though, Shumway said that police have been "unable to locate a crime scene." Detectives from the Major Crimes unit responded and are leading the investigation, he said.
Verderame said the student was driven to the hospital, and added that, "No other Southern students were involved in the incident.”
