Stalker Arrested After Gunfire Incident: New Haven PD
The man had repeatedly stalked his ex-girlfriend, police said.

NEW HAVEN, CT — A Hamden man accused of stalking his ex-girlfriend was arrested after a gunfire incident, according to police.
Police responded to a Grace Street apartment Feb. 16 and met a woman who said that Shywann Marquise Daluz, 42, showed up at her door and attacked her in her living room, said Officer David Hartman, police spokesman. There were two protective orders against Daluz.
Police found evidence of a struggle in the living room and the victim was injured in the attack. The victim told police that Daluz had been stalking her repeatedly and would often message her describing what she was wearing.

Hamden Police went to Daluz's home to search for him, but he wasn't there. The victim got a message that indicated Daluz intended to harm himself, Hartman said.
The next day police responded to a reported gunshot in the area of State and Grace streets. Witnesses said a man and woman were arguing when a shot rang out. One witness said he saw a man and woman run one way and two men run in the other direction after the gunshot.

The victim from the previous day told police that Daluz tried to break in to her home through a basement window, but she was alerted to the break-in and tried to hold Daluz until police arrived. He had escaped her grasp.
Police began to search for Daluz near his home in Hamden and he was found on the 1500 block of State Street. He indicated he was shot at and knew who pulled the trigger, but was unharmed, Hartman said.
He was charged with criminal attempt to commit burglary in the third degree, criminal trespass in the first degree, stalking in the first degree, harassment in the second degree, two counts of criminal violation of a protective order and breach of peace in the second degree. These charges are independent of those for the earlier reported incident.
Police continue to search for the gunman.
