Man Struck, Killed By Amtrak Train Saturday ID'd By MTA Police
The body of 37-year-old Victorino Vlvar was found on the tracks near Ella T. Grasso Blvd. Saturday at around 6:30 p.m.

NEW HAVEN, CT — The MTA Police Department told Patch Tuesday afternoon that the man killed after being struck by an Amtrak train Saturday on the tracks near Ella T. Grasso Blvd. in New Haven is 37-year-old Victorino Vlvar. No address was provided for Vlvar.
Patch spoke with MTA spokespeople who said MTA police were leading the investigation and, as of Monday, were waiting for a next-of-kin notification before releasing Vlvar's name.
It was around 6:30 p.m. Saturday when the MTA was notified by the New Haven Fire Department that a person was found dead along the tracks behind the NHFD's Grasso Boulevard training academy.

An initial MTA investigation found the man was struck at around 6:15 p.m. by Amtrak Train #140, en route to Springfield, MA from Washington, D.C.
At the time, Metro-North customers were told to expect delays.
