Suspected Serial Arsonist Arrested: New Haven PD
About 30 trash can fires were set in the city within the past few months.

NEW HAVEN, CT — A man reportedly confessed to setting several garbage can fires over the course of months near the New Haven Green after being arrested, according to city police.
There have been about 30 trash can fires in a sixteen acre area centered on the green since three months ago, said Officer David Hartman, police spokesman.
Detectives got a break in the case May 30 when they investigated a fire on Temple Street in view of the New Haven Public Library. The man suspected of setting the fire was seen on tape and was known to library workers as he had been subject to several trespassing complaints, Hartman said. The camera didn't capture the arson itself.
